We are the largest provider of specialist residential education and care for young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders in the United Kingdom.
In 1995, we opened the first residential school in the UK for students with Aspergers Syndrome and have pioneered the 52-week "Waking Day Curriculum" for students with Autism. Today, we continue to lead with Information Communication Technologies in classrooms, Behavioural Therapy, Speech and Language therapy and innovative curriculum. Our schools have been given Ofsted's highest rating and praised as delivering an "outstanding level of care and education."
Today, Cambian Education has partnered with over 70 Local Education Authorities to provide residential education for their young people with a Statement of Special Education Needs. Often, these students have been excluded from mainstream schools or are unable to live at home as a result of their diagnosis and complex requirements.
We have over 30 years' experience transforming the lives of some of the most challenging young people. We draw upon a proven programme of Specialist Education, Specialist 24-hour Care and a wide range of Clinical & Therapeutic Inputs. Multi-disciplinary teams and high staff ratios ensure intensive individual support and one-to-one skill building. Hill House School, for example, has over 150 staff supporting 22 students with Autism and challenging behaviour. Cambian Education operates to the ISO9002 (2000) standard and has achieved the Investor In People (IIP) Award.
Cambian Education also supports and funds OAASIS - a free information service for parents and professionals who have an interest in special education. OAASIS was founded in 1996 and provides advice on a wide-range of learning disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and helping parents to navigate the Special Education Needs system.
