A 9 bed specialist unit for men with autism and associated complex needs
Elm Court
At Elm Court we offer specialist, secure services for up to 9 patients with autism, providing a balanced
and positive environment, staffed by an expert multi-disciplinary team. The team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists and nurses.
We use non-verbal therapies alongside our Speech and Language Therapists who develop and encourage effective communication methods, enhancing communication skills and helping to diminish
challenging behaviour. We have a team of experienced specialists and access to the latest clinical expertise within the field of autism.
Elm Court has an enclosed, landscaped garden and indoor communal areas. All bedrooms are en-suite and furbished to a very high standard and individuals are encouraged to personalise their rooms to their own tastes. Staffing levels are high and qualified nurses are available 24 hours a day.
Elm Court is situated in Colchester which is Britain's oldest recorded town. Colchester is a thriving, modern town with many great attractions including Colchester Zoo and Colchester Castle Museum. Colchester has excellent shopping facilities and many amenities for residents. The coast is a short drive away and London is accessible by regular rail links with journeys taking under an hour.
Every individual at Elm Court is supported in accessing the local community. Weekly activities can include cinema, bowling, shopping outings and picnics, but any activity is encouraged once it has been suitably risk assessed.
Elm Court is serviced by the Occupational Therapy-led Joy Clare day centre, where individuals can utilise the sensory room, music room, art room, games room and training kitchen.
