A 6 bed locked intensive rehabilitation unit for men with learning disabilities and associated mental health conditions
Sycamore Court
Sycamore Court is a locked intensive rehabilitation unit for up to 6 men with learning disabilities. The focus at Sycamore Court is on rehabilitation in a safe and structured environment, with intensive clinical and therapeutic input provided by the on-site multi disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists and nurses.
Sycamore Court is furbished to a very high standard, with all bedrooms being en-suite and personalised according to individual taste. Staffing levels are high and qualified nurses are available 24 hours a day.
Sycamore Court is situated in Colchester which is Britain's oldest recorded town. Colchester is a thriving, modern town with many great attractions including Colchester Zoo abd Colchester Castle Museum. Colchester has excellent shopping facilities and many amenities for residents. The coast is a short drive away and London is accessible regular links with journeys taking under an hour. Sycamore Court is well situated for local amenities which is particularly important when beginning a graduated leave programme. Sycamore Court has it's own mini-bus but we actively encourage the use of public transport services to develop the necessary skills in preparation for an eventual move back to the community.
Individuals at Sycamore Court access the local community with the support of staff. Some attend college and the local gym and they all enjoy the regular Gateway club. Colchester Town Football Club is just across the road and many of our patients attend home games regularly.
Sycamore Court is serviced by the Occupational Therapy-led Joy Clare day centre, where individuals can utilise the music room, art room, games room and training kitchen.
