Walkern Lodge
Walkern Lodge is is a step-down hospital for up to 6 women providing intensive rehabilitation and community integration. The focus at Walkern Lodge is on achieving greater social inclusion and on improving daily living skills. Clinical and therapeutic input is provided by the multi disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists and nurses.
Walkern Lodge has been furbished to a very high standard, all bedrooms are en-suite and individuals are encouraged to personalise their rooms to their own tastes. There is a communal dining area and lounge, with enclosed, landscaped gardens. Staffing levels at Walkern Lodge are high and qualified nurses are available 24 hours a day.
Walkern Lodge is situated in the old town of Stevenage, within easy walking distance of the local shops and amenities. Stevenage is easily accessible by both road and rail, with excellent links to London and neighbouring towns such as Hitchin, Knebworth and Luton.
Patients at Walkern Lodge are supported in accessing local services, such as the local gym, college and hairdressing salons and the local pubs and cafes are popular. Many patients have their own bus passes and are supported to walk or use public transport, but there is also a dedicated mini-bus available in addition to this.
