Our clients flourish in an environment where all the patients are female. Aspen House and Aspen Lodge are neighbouring Cambian facilities. The two units overlap a great deal. In some cases, the Lodge is used for assessment with the House as a follow on placement. However, other clients may benefit from staying exclusively at the smaller Lodge.

Dedicated clinical teams provide a multi-disciplinary input including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training. Using Cambian’s unique Active Care™ programme, patient-centred care plans are devised, determined by individual needs.

Patients can access therapy in both buildings. Facilities are not duplicated – there is one beauty salon on the site, one computer room and one poly-tunnel. This means that a wider range of activities and therapies can be offered to everyone, whether they live in the Lodge or the House.

Access to the local community is an essential step along the pathway to rehabilitation Located in a residential part of Mexborough, Aspen House has excellent shopping facilities available close to the hospital, where independence skills may be practised. Nearby is a leisure centre for swimming and sports activity. We use the local colleges for literacy and numeracy education, and for NVQ courses.

A good public transport system allows easy access to Doncaster, Sheffield and Rotheram with the all the urban amenities on offer there. We are a dedicated rehabilitation service for women, with a fantastic record of moving people into less secure settings and community placements.

• Aiming for a return to the community or appropriate low cost community-based care
• May be sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983) 3, 37, 37/41
• Primary diagnosis of mental illness
• May have dual diagnosis and complex needs
• Typical diagnosis - schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, bipolar affective disorder or depression
