Sedgley Lodge
Woodcross, Woverhampton
A 14-bed hospital specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation for men.
“What more can I say about the high standard of care and accommodation offered by all Cambian hospitals…the fantastic facilities, dedicated staff and the highest level of client-centred care. Sedgley House and Lodge both embody these standards.” Mike Eales (psychologist, Star Wards)
Sedgley Lodge offers more independence for clients compared to the neighbouring Cambian facility, Sedgley House.
Dedicated clinical teams provide a multi-disciplinary input including occupational therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training. Using Cambian’s unique Active Care™ programme, patient-centred care plans are devised, determined by individual needs.
On a daily basis the patients are encouraged to use the therapy kitchen in order to cook basic and complex meals. The therapy room is accessible for all patients to engage in internet sessions, arts and crafts, creative writing and other psycho-educational groups.
Within the ground there are areas for patients to landscape and garden and there are communal areas to promote social engagement.
Finally, there is the option to step down to Number 12 – a beautifully appointed semi-detached house next door - one step closer to full social reintegration.
Access to the local community is an essential step along the pathway to rehabilitation. With our outward-looking programme, we take full advantage of local amenities so that the people in our care may practice independence skills. We encourage enrolment in courses at local colleges. For both leisure pursuits and for social training such as shopping and using public transport, the hospital is ideally placed.
The village of Sedgley has amenities enjoyed by many of our patients, such as gyms, golfing ranges and swimming baths. Budgeting skills can be practised at the local shops.
Regular public transport in the area provides both ‘travel training’ and allows our patients to visit the city of Wolverhampton, with all the facilities on offer there.
From the Lodge, clients may progress to Number 12 – a beautifully appointed semi-detached house next door - one step closer to full social reintegration.
Sedgley patients have successfully moved into step-down houses and re-integrated into the community as a result of our dynamic approach.
