A 22-bed hospital specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation for men with an adjacent community housing project – The Sycamores - which provides a further community based service for 6 clients who are ready to move to a more independent lifestyle.
The hospital is located just off Junction 28 in the market town of South Normanton and 2 miles away from the busy Alfreton town centre. Clients have access to all of the local amenities, to ensure full integration into community life. The facilities available in the busy towns include gym, library, bowling, churches, leisure centres and the usual shops, hair salons, cafes and supermarkets.
The train access and bus facilities are nearby enabling clients to easily access Alfreton, Sutton in Ashfield, Chesterfield and Mansfield. Nearby city access by public transport is within 1 hour to Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby.
The hospital is within easy reach of Sherwood Forest the home of Robin Hood, Bakewell country town located in the Peak District in the First National Park. Beautiful surrounding areas include Buxton and Castleton where the Blue John Caves are situated; soul inspiring picturesque Matlock and Matlock Bath where walking is a daily occurrence. Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall have beautiful gardens and parks and are a must for visitors to the area.
We offer access to a daily full time Occupational Therapy Programme for our clients, Psychological interventions, full nursing and psychiatric care offering high staff ratio, ensuring a holistic package of care for all.
Family and carers are welcomed at both the hospital and the Sycamores, and a carers group is facilitated by the staff every 8-12 weeks to ensure that carers are fully informed about the treatment pathway. Visitors are welcomed to the hospital.

- May be sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983) 3, 37, 37/41
- Primary diagnosis of mental illness
- May have dual diagnosis and complex needs
- Typical diagnosis - schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, bipolar affective disorder or depression
