everyone has a personal best
In June the Cambian Group was delighted to announce the acquisition of Whinfell Autism School in Kendal, Cumbria, a service officially rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
Cambian Whinfell offers a calming and homely environment and helps create the ideal setting for young people to receive the best care and educational support available.
Richard Tyson, Head of Cambian Whinfell said: “This is very positive news for the students and staff at the school. We have built a great reputation working with some of the most complex and challenging autistic children and look forward to taking this forward with Cambian.”
Saleem Asaria, CEO, Cambian Group, added: “This is a very exciting time for Cambian as we expand our network of leading special needs education services.Cambian Whinfell will continue to operate as a specialist residential school for autism and we will look to further expand the school offering in the near future.”
Drawing upon years of combined experience in providing specialist education and 24-hour care provision, the school particularly focuses on the development of personal, social, communication and living skills utilising multidisciplinary teams and high staffing ratios to ensure intensive and individual support. Additional activities in and out of school hours complement the curriculum.
Tyson went on to say: “Staff at Whinfell School work exceptionally hard to provide the very best level of care for their students and our mission as a service is to continue providing the very best individual care and education to the highest standard.
”Our work allows young people to develop their maximum potential and to learn strategies for coping with life in a world they sometimes find confusing and disconnected from. We respect, value and support our young people and ensure safety, security and continued opportunities for future success. We also address pupil’s individual learning, social and communication difficulties, helping to reduce behavioural problems resulting from frustration and anxiety. We also work very closely with families/guardians and outside agencies, encouraging involvement in the local community to help develop self-worth and identify interests to build on.”
