"Overall quality of education – outstanding”
“Overall welfare, health and safety of pupils – outstanding”, Ofsted report, June 2009
A 38-52 week mixed gender school for students aged 7-19 with autistic spectrum disorders.
We cater for students across the spectrum; from those with associated learning difficulties to high-functioning students with Asperger syndrome.
Located in the glorious Dorset countryside with 28 acres of land for play and relaxation, the school has a theatre, a sports hall, indoor and outdoor riding arenas and a swimming pool.
Admission can take place at any time during the school year.
Students have full access to the National Curriculum with teaching appropriately differentiated to meet their needs. In addition, The Forum draws upon a proven programme of specialist education and 24-hour care with a wide range of clinical and therapeutic inputs. These include:
Speech & Language Therapy Behavioural Therapy Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry Psychology. Riding/Equine Therapy Multi-disciplinary teams and high staffing ratios ensure intensive individual support. In each class, six, or occasionally seven, students benefit from the attentions of a teacher and two teaching assistants.
Our belief is that for full potential to be achieved we must have high expectations and an open, honest relationship with parents and all professionals involved with each student.
A Parent Liaison Officer is available to discuss, in confidence, a child's specific needs and we are delighted to help with any questions or to arrange a visit.
