A mixed gender, eight-bed satellite house to Broughton House. It provides 52 week residential care for young adults aged 19+ with autism and severe learning difficulties often accompanied by complex needs and challenging behaviour.

Dedicated clinical teams provide a multi-disciplinary input, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training as required. With a supportive environment and a range of opportunities we prepare the residents to meet the demands of adult life in a positive way, offering choice and guidance along the way.

Individualized plans are designed to meet specific needs. The programme for our residents will incorporate household management, vocational skills and work experience, with ongoing functional literacy and numeric skills, along with ICT. Opportunity to attend a local college night school will also be sought and made available where appropriate.

State-of-the-art facilities at Elston House include an activities room with networked computers and a sensory room. Each bedroom has an en-suite shower or bathroom in order to meet the need for privacy and dignity.

Outside there are extensive grounds that cover approximately 5 acres with a safe enclosed garden and managed woodlands.

Involvement in the local community is an essential part of the daily life of our students, for both leisure pursuits and for social training such as shopping and using public transport. The house is located in the small rural village of Elston, yet Lincoln, Newark and Nottingham are not far away and there, urban amenities can be accessed.

A Parent Liaison Officer is available to discuss, in confidence, a young person’s specific needs and we are delighted to help with any questions or to arrange a visit to the unit.
