Cambian Potterspury Lodge School have been focusing on teaching diversity in the recent months and highlighting this topic with students.

The young people had a visit from guest speaker Khakan Qureshi, a LGBT advocate who founded the Birmingham South Asians LGBT social support group ‘Finding a Voice’.  It is a non-funded, multi-faith group which welcomes all LGBT people regardless of culture.

He is one of the school champions and he spends much of his time going to visit schools to discuss his upbringing and growing up as a homosexual Muslim in the UK.

After a full school assembly, Khakan, spent some time with individual classes talking to them about identity and religion.

Khakan commented on the young people at Cambian Potterpury Lodge being thoughtful, considerate and insightful.

The school remains a Stonewall Champion School and we are so proud of our students for displaying such wonderful behaviour and being so welcoming of Khakan.
