Meet the Team
Principal
Craig Moreton
Craig is honoured and privileged to become the Principal of Cambian Brook View School. After a grounding in two large comprehensive schools in the West Midlands, Craig gained a thorough understanding of the holistic and pastoral well-being of young people.
After a successful career in mainstream education, completing his NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) in 2011, Craig began his career in specialist education in 2014 with the Cambian Group, assuming the role of Head Teacher of the Cambian New Elizabethan School, a school for young people with Autism and challenging behaviours. After seven very successful years at the school, Craig has recently been supporting school improvement initiatives and evaluating schools both in the UK and in specialist education in the Middle East.
Craig looks forward to using his skills in combining the skill set of the education, care and therapy staff to ensure that all young people receive the best outcomes possible by brokering positive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that Cambian Brook View goes from strength to strength.
Assistant Principal / DSL
Michael Kennedy
Michael brings a wealth of experience to Cambian Brook View School, after having supported across various Cambian educational provisions and contexts. Michael is adept at providing support, appropriate challenge and championing the great work of colleagues and children.
Michael has been fortunate to have been part of some fantastic teams and worked with some incredible individuals who are aspirational and inspirational. These include the children and young people he has been extremely privileged to have supported across our unique service. Michael has extremely high aspirations and expectations for both our young people and colleagues, believing there is no finish line.
Instructor/Transitions Lead
Mairi Baggs
Mairi is a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant at Brook View School.
Mairi has many years’ experience working with vulnerable young people within educational settings covering SEMH, ASD and SLD. Prior to joining the Cambian Group, Mairi owned her own childminding business which was graded Outstanding by Ofsted.
Mairi has also worked as a Deputy Manager of a nursery school. Mairi has a passion for animal therapy and is keen to develop this at Brook View. Mairi is committed to helping all of the young people at Brook View in order that they can obtain the best opportunities to achieve their goals.
Lead Teacher
Sammy Morgan
Sammy Morgan is a lead teacher and joined Brook View School in 2021. Sammy leads in English, Food technology, Nurture and Interventions. Sammy previously worked in mainstream schools prior to joining Brook View School.
Sammy believes in a nurturing approach to support the young people at Brook View and is passionate about providing the best opportunities and outcomes for all students.
Lead Teacher
Yvonne Rigby
Yvonne Rigby is a Lead teacher at Brook view school and joined the team in 2021. Yvonne leads in Science, Forest school as well as PSHE and RSE topics. Yvonne worked in mainstream schools prior to joining the team at Brook view school.
Yvonne is also a fully qualified Holistic therapist and is passionate about delivering the best opportunities to all young people and is proud to be part of the Brook View team.
Lead Teacher
Gemma Armer
Gemma has worked with the Cambrian Group as a Lead Teacher for 16 years as a fully qualified teacher. Gemma has had the opportunity to engage with young people in various settings and locations throughout the Cambian Group teaching Performing Arts including: dance/drama/theatre, RSE/PSHE, PE and Careers/Life Skills. Gemma also manages her own dance company and works as principal for LIPA (Liverpool institute for performing Arts) where Gemma has given our young people the opportunity to attend after school hours with carers and support staff with incredibly positive feedback Gemma has recently qualified as a Career Leader and Careers Guidance Officer and offers a bespoke SEND career service to our young people.
Gemma is a mum to 3 young boys and is passionate about the importance of education. Supporting this Gemma works voluntarily as a Governor for Sefton Council. Every day, Gemma relishes the opportunity to help our young people enhance their lives through my teaching, dance workshops and career advice and support. Gemma is now studying for a NPQSL, to help move Brook View School forward as a school.
Administrator
Steph McLeod
Steph is the Administrator at Brook View since January 2022. Steph supports both care and education in all administration. Steph is studying for her Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship and is friendly and welcoming.
Lead Teacher
Darryl McNicholl
Darryl is Maths, PE & ICT Lead at Brook View School and has been at the school since September 2022. Darryl joined us with wealth of experience in the SEND landscape having spent his time at university focusing around areas which related to inclusion and SEND. Darryl has since developed through working in alternative provision and through his coaching pathway where he coaches for a local Preston team, Sir Tom Finney Football Club, with his focus around disability, refugees, girls and ladies and spends a lot of his out of work hours volunteering to help young people and adults develop holistically. Darryl has a keen interest in developing young people holistically by using a range of techniques and approaches to bring out the best of each individual and is hoping to use his previous experiences to bring out the best of the young people at Brook View.
Teaching Assistant
Lisa Allen
Lisa joined Brook View in January 2024 and is a Teaching Assistant. Lisa comes from an art based industry in which she has worked in for 25 years and hopes to use that knowledge to implement exciting art projects with the young people at Brook View School. Lisa’s life outside of work revolves around her family, pets, gardening and music.
Registered Manager
Emma Thomas
Emma has worked with in various childcare settings over 34 years, gaining a vast amount of knowledge and experience along the way. Initially working with younger children, from birth to 12 years in nursery and preschool settings, then 12-19 years with complex needs, EBD, SLD, MLD, PMLD, ASD in a large Special school.
Over the past 24 years Emma career has been in residential child care services, initially working with Children and young people who had Social and Emotional behavioural difficulties, in a 12 bed Children’s Home and School, starting off as a Residential Support Worker and leaving there as Head of Care.
Emma is currently in the process of registering with Ofsted to become the registered Manager of our newest home at Cambian Brook View School - “The Farmhouse.”
Trainee Therapy Dog
Nessie
Nessie is a border collie and currently training to be a therapy dog. Nessie is currently gaining her certificates and is fully registered with the kennel club. Nessie helps to keep the young people at Brook View calm and always wants to play!
Registered Manager
Elise Aspinall
Elise has over 20 years’ experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviours. Her strength is behaviour management using distraction, de-escalation and, where appropriate, humour.
Elise is a firm advocate of the child centred approach and likes to get involved with the care of the young people in all areas, ensuring that she builds positive relationships with both colleagues and young people.
Having been a youth worker, a teacher, a Head Teacher, a residential care worker, a team leader and a deputy manager before becoming a manager, Elise is able to empathise with all staff members having worked in all areas of residential childcare and is proud of being the Registered Manager of Orion.
Governance Board
Termly Governance Board meetings are held at Cambian Brook View School to ensure that the management of the school is closely scrutinised and held to account in all areas of responsibility.
