Look out Scarborough School, there's a new High Sheriff in town and her name is Venetia Wrigley!

Venetia’s main role as High Sheriff is to spend her year in office, but during the pandemic she had thanked all the small charities for being such lifelines in the community. Through her links with local charities, she knows just how much work has been done by volunteers and local groups during the pandemic and how much it has been needed.

During decades of work in the voluntary service, she has sat on the grants committee of 'Turn2Us', a national organisation providing help and support for those that require it the most.

Venetia had visited our school to gain an insight into how we support young people to improve their whole wellbeing and achieve academic outcomes.

She gave the students a History lesson as to why she has the title of High Sheriff and the responsibilities of her role. Our students were very polite and sociable with one or two of them likening Venetia to the Queen.

She was very impressed with our school and its mission to support young people to be happy and helping them to improve their social, emotional and mental health difficulties as well as succeeding academically.
