Grateley welcomes Sir George Young

On 17 January, students at Grateley House School welcomed Sir George Young Bt MP, who came to join in with a Student Council meeting and to encourage young people to further engage with the political process.

He observed the students in their Council meeting and spoke to them at length, outlining how politics worked and allowed the students plenty of time to ask him questions.

He told them how he was concerned about the dwindling numbers of young people interested in politics, encouraging the students to take a lot more interest in the process of government.

Sir George is a British Conservative Party politician who has been a Member of Parliament since 1974, having represented North West Hampshire since 1997.
