Meet the Team
Cambian Potterspury Lodge School is a 38 week residential school for young people aged 8-18 who have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, challenging behaviour and complex needs.
How we support students at Cambian Potterspury Lodge School
Staff work alongside students within an accepting environment geared towards allowing young people with Asperger’s Syndrome to accept themselves, tolerate others, to have confidence, and experience success as they begin to become successful citizens. Staff are chosen for their vitality and enthusiasm as well as for qualifications and experience. We are all there to support students to achieve their personal best.
Broad and balanced curriculum
Students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum which extends throughout the waking day. A significant part of the learning process is catered for in after-school, structured activities. We aim to teach self-management through the provision of a range of strategies that allow students to develop their strengths and manage their difficulties successfully.
In summer 2016 students achieved qualifications in across the following subject areas: GCSE Mathematics, GCSE English, GCSE Science, GCSE Religious Studies, GCSE Citizenship, GCSE Art, GCSE PE, GCSE History, Personal and Social Development Entry Level Award. Functional skills ICT, Mathematics and English, Entry level History, media and performing arts.
Our consistent approach provides an atmosphere of predictability and security in which students are able to work, learn and enjoy their learning and leisure time.
Everything we do is supported by a wide range of clinical and therapeutic inputs including:
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Clinical Psychology
- Behavioural Therapy
We focus on developing education, life and vocational skills that support a successful transition into adulthood.
Many students will go on to FE colleges to study courses such as Foundation Level GNVQs Health and Social Care, Agriculture, Sport and Leisure, or will follow vocational courses, which include further development of basic numeracy and literacy skills. Some students also progress to A-Levels and Level 3 courses that lead to University.
Location of Cambian Potterspury Lodge School
We are situated in the scenic Northamptonshire countryside, enabling us to offer a variety of outdoor activities including hill walking, mountain biking and various sports games.
Extensive use is made of local recreational facilities and we have excellent links with the community.
The main building is a Grade 2 listed hunting lodge full of history and the extensive grounds allows us to do fishing in the lake, horticulture in the gardens and cross-country runs. The large open space also gives students the space for relaxation and is often used ford calming strategies.
