My role: I support students with learning skills to self-regulate, which in turn enables them to participate in Activities of Daily Living, of self-care/ Productivity (Attending education or work) and leisure. I work with students to develop- co-ordination/ Postural stability/ strength and stamina.

 

My ultimate aim is for students to be as independent as they can be. I offer 1:1 and group sessions, some of the group sessions are run with the Integrated Therapy Assistant.

 

My interests: Football- I support Arsenal, Paddle boarding and Clubbercise

My personality:  Fun, Kind, friendly

Sheena Gale-Sowamber

My role: I support students with improving their communication so that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Communication support covers a wide area and includes social communication, language skills and speech sounds. I offer 1:1 sessions where students complete an assessment and discuss what they would like to work on in sessions with me. Some students are offered group sessions that are run by me and the Integrated Therapy Assistant. This is a great opportunity for students to practise their social communication skills in a safe, nurturing environment.

 

My interests: Films, travelling and ice hockey.

My personality: Kind, friendly and hard working.

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  Kindness is being considerate and caring towards someone else, and helping others without expecting anything in return. Being kind can be as small as offering them a compliment or saying hello! Being kind can help someone to feel better and support them with their mental health and well-being.

My role: At CWC I assist the Occupational Therapist and the Speech and Language Therapist. We work together to help each young person learn, grow, and feel safe. I support students by working one-on-one or in groups, as well as keeping track of how they are doing. When students start at CWC I meet with them so can we can assess what support we will provide. My role is all about helping students reach their goals in a positive way!

 

My interests: Art, Cooking, Anime, Plants, Reading and Animals

My personality: Friendly, Gentle, Approachable and Kind

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  Kindness to me is the simple yet powerful act of showing empathy and compassion to others, creating connections that uplift both the giver and receiver. Wellbeing means nurturing our minds, body, and spirit in a balanced way, so we can live fully, stay resilient, and spread positivity in the world around us.

My role: I am a Clinical Psychologist and work at Wing one day a week. My role is to think about how we support the emotional wellbeing of students through staff training, consultation and working directly with students. I also supervise the Assistant Psychologist.

 

My interests: Reading, walking my dog, travel, just learning about my garden

My personality: Curious, fun, kind and respectful

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me: wellbeing to me means being comfortable in yourself, being compassionate towards yourself and allowing space for your thoughts and feelings while still being able to move towards the things that are important to you in life. Kindness is showing compassion to others in a non-judgmental way.

My role: I work alongside the Clinical Psychologist to help students with their mental health and navigate their thoughts and feelings. My role includes assessing students when they first join CWC to understand their level of need and what support they might require. I support students by working with them one-to-one and in group sessions, as well as checking in with them regularly.

 

My interests: Football, cooking, travelling

My personality: Bubbly, fun, caring, and approachable

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me? Wellbeing to me means feeling balanced and healthy in both mind and body so that we are able to thrive, spread positivity and happiness, and enjoy life. Kindness means treating myself and others with compassion and respect, and spreading happy energy to make people smile.

Mental Health Practitioner

James Ozmond

My role: I am a mental health nurse and have been working with children and young people for over 25 years in a variety of mental health settings. I offer a responsive person-centred support to everyone at Wing who may be having who have a decline in their mental/emotional health, as well as supporting more complex mental health issues.  The style of interventions ranges from informal sessions to structured weekly appointments either on site at CWC, or community based.

 

My interests:  I love the outdoors, walking, running, the beach and Golf. I support ABFC and go to all the home games – as well as my pet Husky, Snake, Bearded dragon and cat.

My personality: Fun, Humorous, caring, and supportive.

 

What does wellbeing/kindness mean to me?  Wellbeing is a personal concept for every person, I believe that it generally refers to the state of being comfortable, healthy, and happy. To achieve this, I focus on 4 key areas which are: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life, and also may include factors like having a sense of purpose, social connections and interactions, and financial security. Essentially, wellbeing is about actively taking care of yourself and finding fulfilment in various aspects of your life.  As CWCs Mental Health Practitioner I will help guide you to maintaining good/positive wellbeing.
