Adventure and Fun: Gummer’s How and Fell Foot Picnic

18.07.2025

On Thursday 17th July – penultimate day of school, the Whinfell school laced up their walking boots and set off on a fantastic adventure up Gummer’s How. With the sun shining and spirits high, pupils and staff alike enjoyed stunning views over Lake Windermere as they made their way to the top. The sense of achievement at the summit was shared by all, from the youngest walkers to our more seasoned hikers!

After the descent, everyone made their way to Fell Foot Park for a well-earned picnic. Sandwiches were shared, and there was plenty of time to relax and enjoy the fresh air.

But the fun didn’t stop there! The afternoon was packed with games, laughter, and a very competitive game of rounders. Teams gave it their all, with some impressive catches, fast running, and lots of enthusiastic cheering from the sidelines.

It was a brilliant day full of smiles, teamwork, and fresh air — a perfect reminder of the joy that comes from getting outside together. Thank you to all the staff for organising such a memorable trip, and well done to all our pupils for showing great energy and enthusiasm throughout the day!
