Devon School Visits Van Gogh Exhibition

26.02.2026

In the autumn term students at the Devon School had the opportunity to visit the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition: Vincent Van Gogh Immersive in Exeter.

The Immersive Experience is a 360º digital art exhibition that invites you to step into the universe of the Dutch genius, Vincent van Gogh. Students were able to explore the world and art of the artist giving them the opportunity to walk through a series of large-scale projections and recreations of the artist’s work. Masterpieces such as Starry Night, Sunflowers band Café Terrace at Night are freed from their frames and brought to life in a narrated journey of colour, light and movement of the artists life.

Students spent the time exploring and documenting their own observations in their sketchbooks and creating a photo diary of the day. On our return to school students developed their own interpretations of some of their favourite pieces. Starry Nights was one of their most popular paintings which inspired us to create our own Starry Nights immersive mural in our Gallery room. Students worked collaboratively to create an acrylic painting covering all four walls over the last four months.
