Brook View School Support Helps Deliver Solar Power to Pakistani Community

02.02.2026

Brook View School is proud to share the successful completion of a solar-powered water and electricity project in Pakistan, made possible through a £2,000 grant from the CareTech Foundation.

The idea for the project emerged when Principal Rebekah Dennett casually asked staff members Aliya and Syed about their annual leave in 2024. During the conversation, they shared that they had personally funded a project to bore for water in a village in Pakistan, providing the community with access to a vital water supply.

They also explained that they were continuing to cover the ongoing cost of running a generator each month to power the water pump. Aliya went on to share her ambition to return to Pakistan in 2025 to install solar panels. The aim was to make the project more sustainable and to free up personal savings so they could support other urgent needs within the village.

Inspired by this conversation, Rebekah shared the idea with Eesa Sheikh during a visit to Brook View School. Recognising the potential impact of the project, Eesa recommended applying to the CareTech Foundation, which actively supports initiatives like this.

Brook View was put in contact with the Foundation’s team, leading to a successful funding application!

With a £2,000 grant from the CareTech Foundation, the solar-powered project has now been completed. The new solar panels provide continuous, cost-free electricity, allowing water to run throughout the day and removing the burden of high electricity bills. The installation now covers most of the building’s rooftop, standing as a visible commitment to sustainability.

Because the solar installation was fully funded, additional savings were used to support the wider community. During the winter months, children received warm clothing and school uniforms, and a bathroom and toilet were constructed for a vulnerable family, improving safety, dignity, and living conditions.

The project’s impact has been overwhelming, with community members asking for their gratitude and prayers to be passed on to everyone involved. The team have also submitted an application for the Ramadam food aid project, in hopes to continue reaching families who are struggling.

What began as an innocent conversation at Brook View School has grown into a project that is delivering clean water, sustainability, dignity, and hope to families who need it most.
