A great start to the New Year!
Happy New Year to all of our pupils and families. To begin the Spring term, we had PACE training from one of our L&D partners which was a big hit with the staff team. PACE training refers to a trauma-informed approach in psychology and caregiving, standing for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy, developed by Dr. Dan Hughes to help adults build secure, trusting relationships with children who have experienced trauma, fostering emotional safety and connection. It informs the way we work with our pupils and supports them to feel able to access education.
We received some lovely feedback from the trainer following the session:

Hi Jade, Hi Jemma,
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for having me yesterday for the Therapeutic Parenting & PACE training.
I wanted to reach out to thank you for such an enjoyable session. The group’s engagement was fantastic, and it was very evident that you and your team hold the highest standards for the young people you support. It was easy to see that this is more than just a job to you all.
It was lovely to hear about what you have already achieved with the young people, and the continued work you are doing to help them manage and reflect on their emotions and behaviour, enabling them to develop and truly flourish when they move on. Your person-centred approach was clear throughout, and the way education is tailored to each student — allowing them to learn through fun — was particularly inspiring.
Thank you again for such a welcoming and positive experience.
Please pass on my thanks to your team.
Emma
