Cambian Oaks is a newly-refurbished, 36-bed hospital specialising in psychiatric rehabilitation for men. It provides state-of-the-art facilities and a multi-disciplinary treatment programme designed to assist patients with their return to independent living.

Cambian Oaks is situated in Barnsley, a former mining community in the heart of South Yorkshire, famous for its traditional brass bands. It is close to many other towns and attractions in South Yorkshire and to the beautiful countryside of the Peak District, with the Yorkshire Wolds, Moors and Dales also within easy reach. The multi-disciplinary team at Cambian Oaks is made up of medical, psychology, nursing and occupational therapy staff.  These staff members work in partnership with the patient and with individual community teams to ensure that treatment programmes match the patient’s needs and expectations and the requirements of future community placement.

The hospital is made up of two units and has dedicated occupational therapy space, including a gymnasium, pottery and internet cafe.  It also has modern kitchens to help with the development of patients’ daily living skills. All bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms with attractive views across the surrounding area and there are extensive grounds for patients to enjoy as an aid to their rehabilitation. 
Barnsley town centre is a short walk away, giving patients’ access to the many facilities in the local community.  Barnsley is currently undergoing a period of redevelopment, with the opening of the Barnsley People’s Museum and Archives Centre in 2012, a new Digital Media Centre and a proposed new market area.

Barnsley is also well-situated for major towns such as Doncaster and Sheffield, with their lively shopping centres and extensive community facilities. As part of their rehabilitation and individual care plans patients can access these centres either by hospital transport or via the new Barnsley rail and bus interchange.
Cambian Oaks also has links with nearby Barnsley and Northern Colleges, allowing patients to progress in their vocational and academic development, and with the nursing and medical departments of Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.
