Specialist Education

We are delighted to share that Lufton College has partnered with the Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership (SASP) to deliver a bespoke “Fit for Work” learning programme for our students.

This innovative initiative provides meaningful, purposeful activities that fit closely with our curriculum, supporting the development of key areas such as employability, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Designed specifically for young people with disabilities who are preparing for employment, the 10-week programme offers engaging, weekly sessions led by inclusive and experienced coaches. Students take part in a variety of sports and physical strength-based activities, helping to build stamina, improve movement, and promote physical health.

Alongside the physical benefits, the programme plays a vital role in developing essential life and work-ready skills, including confidence, communication, teamwork, and social interaction. Students will also have valuable opportunities to engage with external providers, share their views, and work with peers in a supported and encouraging environment.

This week was our first session, it has been fantastic to see such positive engagement from our students, we look forward to sharing more updates as the programme progresses.
