We are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Head, Jason Goddard at Cambian Southwick Park School.
With over 18 years of hands-on specialist education experience across the state and private sector, Goddard will be responsible for leading Cambian’s flagship new school. Southwick Park School will draw on Cambian’s 30 years experience providing leading, Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ specialist education and care services.
Southwick Park is a specialist 52 weeks residential school for children with autism, challenging behaviours and complex needs aged 11-19 years. In fantastic surroundings, the school is located close to Tewkesbury and ideally placed to serve the South West, Midlands and Wales.
Our spacious and nurturing grounds and wide range of specialist teaching facilities with strong community links, ensures we remain focused on a student-centred educational environment that allows our students to reach their personal best while achieving social independence.
New Head, Jason Goddard joins us following an assignment as the Dean of Specialist Education at an independent college in Sydney. Prior to this, Jason worked for the National Strategies team across a number of Local Authorities, specialising in supporting SEN students with learning and behaviour. Jason also brings a host of experience from a previous role as the Deputy Head of a residential BESD school in Dorset.
Mr Goddard believes that the right learning environment is the key to supporting students with special educational needs, he explains: “We know that a school’s ability to provide individualised learning and skills that promote independence is the key to student success. Cambian’s ethos and flexible approach to teaching and leadership will help us to meet the individual needs of Southwick Park students.”
He continued, “I’m excited to be heading up this school with its unique educational approach and look forward to welcoming our new students later this year. Southwick Park School offers a wide range of teaching and therapeutic facilities such as sensory therapy rooms, sensory garden, soft play areas, music therapy rooms and flexible living accommodation to suit the physical, educational and emotional needs of pupils. We are committed to helping each and every child in our care achieve their personal best through effective behaviour management, monitoring and working one to one with parents and students to set personal goals and individualised programmes of learning.”
Mr Goddard believes that working alongside colleagues within Local Authorities is fundamental in supporting these students and as an experienced and effective school leader; Goddard intends to set the bar high for the care of children with autism and SLD at Southwick.
Together with Goddard, we are committed to creating a student-centred learning environment that sets the standard in this field.
