Each term, students at Devon School take part in a cultural day designed to broaden their understanding of the world and celebrate diversity.
This term, our focus was Australia, where students explored Australian culture through a range of engaging activities. This term, our students immersed themselves in Australian culture during our termly cultural celebration day. They explored traditional Indigenous Australian art techniques, creating their own vibrant paintings inspired by ancient storytelling methods. Students also learned to play the didgeridoo, discovering the cultural significance of this iconic instrument. In a fun nod to popular culture, they even participated in a bush tucker taste-testing challenge, sampling insects to get a flavour of the 'I'm a Celebrity' experience!
The day was rounded off with a classic Australian barbecue – complete with shrimps on the barbie, naturally. Students enthusiastically embraced every activity, gaining hands-on experience of Australian traditions, creativity, and culinary adventures whilst broadening their cultural understanding and appreciation.
