Community Access - Shopping! (Green Class)
As part of our community access, Green class have been taking trips to Aldi to obtain ingredients necessary to make creative and sensory activities. The boys have been making choices of activities to try, then looking for the ingredients needed to make them in the store.
Here they are pushing the shopping cart, finding the right ingredients using their created list, putting them into the cart, scanning items at self-checkout and bagging them up to take home.
And here the boys are enjoying the fruits of their labour, exploring lots of dry, wet and slimy textures!
They did a fantastic job of showing choice making, responsibility and perseverance, as well as courage and bravery completing independent tasks in the public setting. We are very proud of them!
Purple Class
Purple Class was filled with pure joy and the irresistible aroma of melted chocolate this week during an incredibly successful literacy lesson.
As part of their sensory and communication-focused literacy curriculum, the learners took on the exciting challenge of listening to and following step-by-step instructions.
The main event? Creating their very own delicious chocolate apples!
With amazing focus and support, each student carefully followed the sequenced directions. They practiced vital independent skills by safely dipping crisp apples into warm, glossy melted chocolate, ensuring a perfect coating. The highlight of the lesson came next, as everyone used their fine motor skills to eagerly decorate their creations with a vibrant shower of colourful sprinkles.
