Whinfell Wildlife Oasis Photography Competition

18.08.2026

Whinfell School, staff and young people, showcased newly honed photography skills during an inhouse competition held while visiting the local wildlife oasis.
The event saw the young people and staff alike take thoughtful photographs, demonstrating creativity, patience and strong sportsmanship as entries were judged.

During the trip to the wildlife oasis, young people considered angles, colours and the uniqueness of their subjects when selecting animals to photograph and enter into the competition. Organised by staff to combine outdoor learning with creative expression, the activity encouraged observation, fine motor skills and an appreciation of the natural world.

Everyone involved waited patiently for the judging to take place, and the atmosphere reflected genuine encouragement and mutual respect.
The competitive element was balanced with a focus on participation and personal progress, and staff praised the young people for their thoughtful compositions and willingness to try new hobbies.

The photography competition forms part of a broader programme of enrichment activities designed to build confidence, creativity and social skills through experiential learning.

We plan on the displaying the winning and highly commended photographs within the home, offering young people the chance to share their work with families and visitors.

Well done to all involved!!
