Brant Broughton, LincolnshireMixed gender, 52 week, 16-25 years
A mixed gender, 52 week residential place of education and care for young people aged 16-25 with autism and severe learning disabilities, often accompanied by complex needs and challenging behaviour. The goal for most of our young people is to lead lives as independently as possible either in one of Cambian’s satellite homes or in their home authority. The college is located in the small rural village of Brant Broughton, yet Lincoln and Newark are not far away and there, urban amenities can be accessed. Our own spacious grounds offer freedom for relaxation and a peaceful environment that contributes to the overall therapeutic approach. Our philosophy and approach is centred on meeting specific individual needs using non-aversive positive intervention. A purposeful and calm atmosphere is encouraged through the consistency of approach adopted by all staff.Dedicated clinical teams provide a multi-disciplinary input, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, psychology, psychiatry and vocational training. In addition to the main college site, No. 12 High Street is a house for five young adults aged 18+, designed to allow development of independence in a smaller environment right at the heart of the village.Accessing the local community is an essential part of the daily life of our students, for both leisure pursuits and for social training such as shopping and using public transport.A Parent Liaison Officer is available to discuss, in confidence, a young person’s specific needs and we are delighted to help with any questions or to arrange a visit to the unit.
