Kimberley House offers a safe living environment catering for a range of needs and abilities of Deaf people aged 16+, who have experienced multiple placement breakdowns. Our aim is to stabilise challenging behaviours through effective communication and behaviour support programmes to enable the people in our care achieve their personal best.
Our home has large communal rooms, designed ideally for promoting independence and developing personal living skills. Each bedroom is large and comfortable with under-floor heating and neutral colour schemes.
Staff continually use British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate with each other and the people in our care.
Our service is located in the pretty village of Kirk Smeaton, North Yorkshire, 1.5 miles from the A1 approximately 20 minutes north of Doncaster. The house is ideally situated for each access to larger cities of Leeds, York and Sheffield, with smaller towns of Pontefract, Barnsley and Rotherham all within a 30 minute drive.
Individuals can access the immediate community, with the benefit of a country pub and post office in the village. More extensive leisure facilties and educational provisions are all within close proximity to the house. There is an efficient local bus service and mainline rail links from Doncaster and Pontefract.
The adjoining land will provide a hugely beneficial space for recreation, vegetable plot and animal husbandry, whilst the more formal landscaped gardens provide a tranquil and calming space for people to really relax.
