I have been the Headteacher at Cambian Hereford School since September 2018. Previously, I was the headteacher at 3 other schools in Herefordshire. I started my career as a Head of Music at a secondary school in Hereford and took a change of direction 10 years later, moving into primary education, where I spent almost 20 years in three different establishments as teacher, Deputy Headteacher, Acting Headteacher and finally Headteacher. The move to Cambian Hereford School brought me full circle back to secondary education and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a talented staff and our wonderful students.
Assistant Head Teacher
In 2013 I took up a position as a teacher working in the Hereford school and in 2015 I was successful in applying for the position of Assistant Head Teacher. During this time I gained experience at all levels of school management including, training as a DSL, introducing a new teaching and assessment system across the core subjects and working with teachers to implement this; creating and overseeing pupil site and activity risk assessment; monitoring safeguarding with the Head; taking the lead on behaviour management across the school; mentoring teachers through QTS; supporting other schools within the company in a range of areas and implementing and overseeing a whole tracking system to monitor behaviour and engagement. All of which ensures that the school achieves the best possible outcomes for the pupils which has been recognised through pervious Ofsted inspections with the most recent resulting in Outstanding judgements in all areas.
I have worked in both mainstream and SEMH educational settings for over 24 years. In addition to teaching Design Technology both at KS3 and KS4 delivering Textiles, Resistant Materials, Food and Graphic Design I had whole school responsibilities for delivering Careers Education and Guidance and Work-Related Learning (Alternative Provisions) across the schools I worked in.
Whilst teaching and delivering a range of qualifications to ensure pupils leave CHS with an externally recognised qualification in Food which suites their individual educational pathway, I also undertake the Examination Administration.
I am the science teacher at Cambian Hereford School, delivering Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons from KS3 to KS4, resulting in a range of qualifications including ASDAN, Entry Level Certificate and GCSE. I have been teaching for over 15 years, and taught science in a secondary school in Swindon for 12 years before moving to Herefordshire and teaching in a primary school for a few years. I have also been fortunate to have the opportunity to teach horseriding in America during a summer, and teach English in China for a year whilst I was at university in Brighton training to be a teacher. I love carrying out investigation work in science lessons, even if they don’t always go to plan!
PE and Maths Instructor
I have been at Cambian Hereford School for 4 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute here! I teach Maths and Physical Education to our KS3 and KS4 students. I have previously worked at another Cambian school, Southwick Park, which specialised in Autism support. I am very passionate about working with children and young people who have special educational needs and mental health difficulties. In my spare time I like to play football and spending time with family and friends.
I am the English teacher at Cambian Hereford School and have been working for Cambian since April 2019. Before moving to Herefordshire I was based in South Wales, having completed my PGCE at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Since completing my teacher training, I have worked in a number of different schools in both England and Wales, and within a range of education settings.
I started teaching in 1987, having worked in Foundation, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and university sectors; this is the best job ever!!! My first degree was in Theology, but, after doing a dyslexia qualification, I became interested in psychology and did another degree in that, going on to study a Masters and a Doctorate in a subject which is endlessly fascinating. I love working with young people and draw inspiration from their passion and enthusiasm for changing the World.
I have worked at Cambian Hereford School since January 2021. I trained as a physical education teacher at Birmingham City University. I am enjoying the experience of channelling my passion of supporting and inspiring the next generation.
Art and Computing Teacher
Hi I’m Charlotte and I teach Art and Design and ICT and Computing here at Cambian Herford School. I trained as Primary School Teacher, specialising in Art and Design, graduating in 2007. Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of settings, both Primary and Secondary, working with pupils with SEND and SEMH. Before coming to work at Cambian Hereford School, I worked in a Pupil Referral Unit teaching Art and Design and ICT. I have also continued to learn since starting to teach, completing both a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and most recently a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design specialising in Fine Art.
I have worked at Cambian Hereford School for over ten years. My role is Pastoral Support, which means I work with everyone at the school in ensuring our students are safe, happy, involved and able to perform to their potential. I also help them integrate with other students and make sure any problems are spotted and dealt with. I am the key communication point between home and school and support us all working together to ensure progression and engagement of students.
I have worked at Cambian Hereford School since September 2014.
I work alongside the teachers helping to deliver the lessons and give extra support to students to ensure they stay engaged and focused.
I assist with the behavioural support in the school, offering help to students when needed, to encourage engagement in lessons and to provide interventions to support gaps in their learning.
I have been given the role of administration lead for GL assessments, Strengths and Difficulties assessment, Learning Styles assessment and Emotional Literacy assessments. I allocate the relevant tests to the students. Once they have taken the tests I collate the information and send to the relevant teachers and senior leadership.
My name is Amy Lynch-Hardy and I have been employed at Cambian Hereford School since June 2019, as a Teaching Assistant. Prior to 2019 I have worked in various schools, in various educational roles, from supply teaching to teaching assistant roles. I completed my PGCE in Primary Education in 2015. During my time at univerisity I specialised in children and mental health, which has been beneficial to my working practice within the school environment.
I thoroughly enjoy working in schools and feel very privileged to provide support and learning for all.
I am the school administrator and I have worked at the school for 10 years. No two days are the same for me and I deal with a wide range of tasks. Some of those tasks are balancing the petty cash, reporting maintenance issues, weekly reporting to Head Office, keeping the files and records for the pupils and staff in accordance with GDPR. As we are a small team, I also get asked to help invigilate exams, and generally get invited into classrooms to view and taste pupil’s work.
I have worked at Cambian Hereford School for over fifteen years. I don’t get to meet the students in my role, but I love working with the staff here – they are all friendly and we pull together like one, big, happy family. I have never known another job like it!
