Residential Services

A came to Kimberley house in September 2017 due to a placement breakdown at a different service. The initial transition was very difficult for A, he didn’t like sharing his space but within a couple of months he had really started settled into Kimberley House and was working well with the staff.

Then in 2020, Kimberley House relocated and A responded really well to the new location and layout of the new “Kimberley House.”

A has now been at Kimberley house for 6 years – in this time his behavioural difficulties had dramatically reduced, he enjoys spending time with the staff team and the other people he lives with. He goes out daily for walks around the local area which until moving to Halifax A would never do.

The biggest achievement for A is that he now has a weekly voluntary job at a local fruit and veg shop and in September 2023 he had his first holiday abroad with another young person and the staff team – this we thought would never happen due to A's requirement for routine.

A has grown over the years – his BSL skills have improved so much that you can now have a full conversation with him and he is an absolute pleasure to be around.
