Download our Asperger Syndrome Information Sheet here.

Asperger Syndrome affects both males and females but it is currently diagnosed in boys in significant higher numbers. This is often due to boys typically displaying more agressive and disruptive behaviours than girls, and therefore they tend to come to the attention of those caring for them more readily. Girls also tend to have a better ability to mask their difficulties by observing and copying the appropriate behaviours of others.

People with Asperger syndrome see, hear and feel the world differently to other people.  If you have Asperger Syndrome, you have it for life - it is not an illness or disease and cannot be 'cured'.

Some people with Asperger syndrome also have mental health issues or other conditions, meaning people need different levels and types of support.

With the right support, all can be helped to live a more fulfilling life of their own choosing.
