New Reading Club Launches at Cambian’s Tyldesley School as Students Dive into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Cambian’s Tyldesley School has launched an exciting new Reading Club this term, welcoming enthusiastic students who are eager to grow their literacy skills and develop a lifelong love of reading. The club, designed to encourage enjoyment, confidence, and curiosity around books, opened with a classic favourite: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

Staff members selected Dahl’s timeless story for its humour, imaginative world-building, and rich themes that spark thoughtful discussion. The book’s vivid characters and fantastical plot have already captured students’ attention, prompting lively conversations about kindness, fairness, and the power of imagination.

The Reading Club meets weekly, offering a relaxed and supportive environment where students can read together, share opinions, and develop comprehension skills. Sessions also include creative activities inspired by the chapters they explore—ranging from designing their own magical sweets to discussing the moral lessons woven into the story.

The launch has been met with strong enthusiasm across the school. Teachers report that students are not only eager to participate but also motivated to read more independently between sessions.

The school plans to continue introducing a variety of engaging titles throughout the year, ensuring that the Reading Club remains a vibrant, inclusive space that nurtures confidence and passion for reading.

Cambian’s Tyldesley School looks forward to building on this momentum and celebrating literacy as a cornerstone of learning and personal development.
