“I previously worked at Shap from 2015 until 2020, starting my journey into the care industry. I have only ever worked at Shap road within the health and social care sector. I completed my NVQ Level 3 as an apprentice through Kendal college and was supported on my journey to complete this by Shap road. I was also able to gain qualifications in understanding autism Level 2 and the care certificate. Shap road is a lovely home for the residents who live there and they are at the forefront of how the home is led and managed. The residents make decisions on their care needs and the activities they take part in on a daily basis, also making choices on where they go on holidays and how their rooms are furnished. It’s a great place to live and work. As I mentioned, I left in 2020 for home life reasons and really enjoyed my time
there, so much that I actually returned in 2025 as part of the bank team and it is still just as fantastic as it was back then and still a great place to work. The staff have been so helpful and welcoming since I returned, easing me back into my role whilst always being there to support me. I am so pleased to be part of Shap Road’s team once again”.
“I’ve been part of the team at Shap Road for over six years and am proud to have progressed to the role of Deputy Manager. Throughout my time here, I’ve developed a deep passion for providing high-quality care and supporting both residents and staff.
At Shap Road, we’re committed to delivering a high standard of care in a safe, welcoming environment. I take great pride in the work we do and in the dedication our team shows every day to ensure residents feel supported, respected, and valued.
What truly drives me is helping our residents live a life that is free, independent, and fulfilled. Whether it’s through encouraging choice, supporting day-to-day routines, or creating opportunities for meaningful engagement, I believe every individual deserves to live life to the fullest. Being part of such a caring and professional team is incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive difference here at Shap Road in both our current and furniture endeavours”.
“I have worked at Shap Road for 5 ½ years and have always found it a fantastic place to work. We support 4 young adults who enjoy going out into the community doing activities such as bus rides, walks, social and art groups and music sessions, we feel it’s important that they have the opportunity to take part in the things that give them joy so lead their best lives possible. At Shap Road we work as a team to support each other, we have experienced staff that are happy to share their knowledge with new staff and those that may need advice to help them fulfil their duties. The management team at Shap Road are very supportive, communicate well with the team and set the standards for us all to work towards, they are also there if we need personal support which is important when you work in care. As an older member of the team I have a wealth of life experience that I can bring to the job but must say that it is by far the best job I have had. I love working as part of a team that gives exceptional care and support to our young adults and feel proud to work at Shap Road and to be a part of this team”.
