Ribble class have enjoyed starting music this term we have listened to a range of music and compared the pieces of music. Ribble class are looking forward to exploring instruments and creating a band this term. They liked the slow piano music as it reminded them of being in a fancy restaurant.
We enjoyed playing in the snow on Monday. Ribble class made snowmen, snowballs and created patterns in the snow. The pupils enjoyed spending time with other classes and staff in the snow.
Ribble class have been very welcoming towards another pupil this week, they have helped to set up resources and played games with him. We are looking forward to seeing these friendships grow!
This week, Purple Class set off on an exciting community access trip to the Ribble Steam Railway and Museum in Preston. This visit was the highlight of their "Amazing Places" topic, providing a hands-on look at the industrial heritage of the North West.
The adventure began at the Riversway Docklands, where the class was greeted by the sight of massive, historic locomotives. Their first stop was the Inspiration Train, a special family-friendly exhibition visiting as part of the "Railway 200" celebrations in January 2026. The students explored the interactive displays, learning how railways changed the way people live and work.
Inside the museum, Purple Class met the railway’s newest characters, the "Ribble Railway Children," who appeared on new children's display panels.
The students particularly enjoyed:
The Post Office Coach: Taking turns sorting parcels into pigeon holes just like the railway workers of the past.
The Shunting Challenge: Working together to move miniature trucks along the tracks.
Overall, a very fun and informative introduction to our topic this term!
