Find out more about Orion - our Residential home on site at Brook View School.
Find out moreBrook View is a specialist school nestled in the peaceful countryside of Ribchester, Lancashire, with two residential homes located on site, Orion and Farm House.
This carefully chosen setting fosters peace, safety, and opportunities for personal growth. Within the campus, Brook View provides year-round residential care for boys and girls aged 8 to 18 who have a primary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
What Brook View Offers:
-
Personalised, Loving Care: Each young person’s care plan is tailored to their unique needs, aiming to achieve their “personal best.” This plan is shaped by input from education, care, and clinical teams, as well as family and the young person themselves.
- Holistic Support: The ethos is deeply integrated, school and home work as one to support both academic progression and emotional/social development. There’s a close relationship between school staff and home staff, ensuring consistency and seamless support throughout the day and night.
- Therapeutic, Safe Environment: Brook View is designed to feel like a real home, not a formal setting. Each child can personalise their own en‑suite bedroom, making it truly theirs. Our communal spaces, sensory rooms and caring staff all help create a place where children feel comfortable, safe and genuinely valued.
In addition, children benefit from full‑time Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy on site. Having therapists as part of daily life means support can be woven naturally into routines, play and learning. This consistent approach helps children build communication skills, develop emotional regulation and improve independence at a pace that suits them. By working closely with education and care staff, our therapy teams ensure every child receives joined‑up, personalised support that helps them thrive both now and in the future.

- Life Skills & Independence: The routines, learning-centred activities, and “wraparound” therapeutic support are all aimed at helping young people build self-management, independence, and life skills, so they can thrive within Brook View and, in time, beyond it.
- Social & Communication Growth: At Brook View, we focus on helping children develop clear communication, positive social interactions and effective ways to manage difficult emotions or behaviours. With a full‑time Speech and Language Therapist on site, support is woven naturally into daily routines, lessons and play, ensuring children can practise new skills in real‑life situations.
The therapist works closely with each child to build confidence in expressing themselves whether through spoken language, gestures, symbols or AAC and supports them in understanding social cues, turn‑taking and building friendships. Every achievement, no matter how small, is recognised and celebrated, helping children feel proud, motivated and ready to take their next steps.
- Broad Experiences: Surrounded by natural beauty, children and young people have the chance to explore a wide variety of outdoor and community experiences. They enjoy country walks, visits to local parks and regular trips to nearby seaside towns such as Blackpool and Southport, helping them build confidence, curiosity and a sense of adventure.
Cultural, recreational and seasonal events are also marked and celebrated throughout the year, giving everyone opportunities to take part, feel included and develop a strong sense of belonging. These shared experiences help children connect with others, discover new interests and create positive memories that support their personal growth.
- Diversity & Belonging: Brook View maintains a strong commitment to every child’s cultural, religious, and linguistic identity. Celebrations, tailored menus, and active encouragement to express individual backgrounds are central to life here.
We currently have two residential homes offering 38 and 52-week residential places for boys and girls within the Brook View school grounds.
