Coach House is one of our friendly and sociable residential homes, thoughtfully created to offer a peaceful and comforting environment where every teenager can truly feel at ease. With its calm lighting, beautiful décor, and signature “super-snuggly” atmosphere, Coach House provides a soothing space where young people can relax, connect, and grow. Supported by a deeply experienced and nurturing team, the home blends increasing independence with meaningful guidance, ensuring each young person feels both understood and celebrated.
Our Ethos
Coach House is built around an ethos of kindness, calm, and connection. The environment encourages teenagers to develop confidence in themselves, compassion for others, and a strong sense of belonging. In line with our use of colour psychology, soft touches of pink appear throughout the house symbolising warmth, empathy, and the gentle, supportive relationships at the heart of daily life.
Here, teenagers are supported to explore their interests, build positive relationships in school and within the community, and create joyful, lasting memories. Whether they’re unwinding in their personalised bedrooms, enjoying shared meals, or heading out for shopping trips, cinema evenings, bubble tea, or exciting music events, Coach House provides a nurturing foundation where each young person can flourish at their own pace.
Life at Coach House
Life in Coach House is full of simple comforts and shared moments. Evenings often include movies on the sofa, relaxing bubble baths, or the occasional face mask; quiet time that helps everyone unwind at the end of the day. Mealtimes are a real highlight too, with the teenagers enjoying everything from Korean favourites and Swedish meatballs to gyozas and homemade pizza. And of course, nothing is more looked forward to than Lyn’s famous creations, her sticky ribs, Viennese whirls, Christmas dinner, and the once-a-year chocolate yule log that everyone loves.
Music is a big part of life for one young person in particular, at Coach House and the team are always ready to support her on her musical adventures. Together, they’ve travelled across the country to concerts and events, including The Summer Time Ball, The Jingle Bell Ball, Anne-Marie, Tom Grennan, Enypen, and the DEPOT in the Castle. With more shows planned, there are plenty of exciting memories still to come.
The Team
Coach House is supported by an exceptionally experienced and dedicated team who bring years of care, warmth, and expertise to the home. Anita leads the way with an incredible 18 years at Southlands, closely followed by Lyn with an impressive 17 years. Naomi has loved her role for a decade, and Carlos and Eva bring 7 and 6 years of experience to the team. More recent additions; Anjana, Kunjumol and Mel, have quickly become valued members of the Coach House family.
The team support the teenagers to treat others with care, build connections in the community, strengthen friendships at school and at home, and create memories they’ll carry with them for years to come.
Coach House is a calm and tranquil home that offers kindness to all, the home is known for being peaceful and welcoming and we cannot wait to make it home for more children in the future.
