This September, we had the privilege of honouring their hard work and dedication at the 10th Annual CareTech Children’s Awards.
With over 800 nominations across 15 Children’s Services award categories, it was heart-warming to see how much our staff are appreciated by their peers for going above and beyond every single day.

A special congratulations to our National 2025 Children’s Services Winner Josh Barreto!
Josh, a West Residential Support Worker, is a shining example of CareTech’s values in action. Josh was nominated for two Care Awards, he won The Children's Chamption Award and was nomintated alongside his Collegue Laura Hutson for the Michael Hill Award.
Josh’s dedication shone through this year, not just in the care he offered but in the initiative and compassion he brought to incredibly complex situations. He went far beyond expected duties, seeking specialist guidance, building partnerships with a charity, coordinating meaningful training for colleagues, and even leading fundraising efforts to expand the support available.
His ability to combine empathy with proactive action made a remarkable difference to the young people in his care and to the wider team. It was this exceptional commitment, leadership, and impact that made Josh stand out and ultimately earn the National Children’s Award.
