Pengwern College Featured in Local Press Following ‘Glowing’ Inspection Report

Cambian Pengwern College has been highlighted in the Rhyl Journal after receiving praise in a recent Estyn inspection report that described the college as a caring and supportive place where learners feel safe and happy and engage in their learning.

The feature article, published this week, recognises the outstanding rapport between staff and students and highlights the college’s commitment to meeting individual needs a key strength noted by inspectors.

The report highlights that the college offers a wide range of practical, creative and real-life learning experiences that support learners to build independence skills or prepare for work, with most learners participating positively in activities that develop their personal, social and vocational skills. Many learners access beneficial on-site and off-site work experience opportunities.

The article reports that the college was praised for the happiness of students, its curriculum, safeguarding, level of teaching and the opportunities available to pupils. Inspectors also noted that nearly all learners demonstrate positive attitudes to learning and behaviour, highlighted the role of the student council in supporting learner involvement, recognised the professional learning opportunities available to staff, and said leaders have established a secure safeguarding culture.

The article in the Rhyl Journal celebrates Pengwern College’s role in delivering high-quality specialist further education and shines a spotlight on the nurturing community it provides for young adults with complex needs.
