Our outdoor learning sessions came alive this spring as students explored life cycles through hands-on, creative activities. Sticky fingers and bright smiles filled the space as they shaped papier-mâché eggs, fluffy soft pom-pom chicks, and crafted feathery chickens inspired by the season around them.
To end the project in the most memorable way, we welcomed our local animal sanctuary, who arrived with the gentle bleating of goats and the quiet cheeping of baby chicks. The children carefully cradled the warm, downy chicks in their hands, laughed as the goats nuzzled for snacks, and enjoyed the fresh air on a calm and cheerful goat walk.
For many students, this was their first close encounter with these animals, making the experience truly special. The visit encouraged kindness, empathy, teamwork, and gentle handling, all while filling the day with laughter, excitement, and a real sense of wonder for both students and staff.
The children worked extremely hard throughout the project and were rewarded with two AQA awards in recognition of their efforts. Congratulations to them all, we are incredibly proud and look forward to repeating this enriching experience again soon.
