About the Job Role

Cambian Dunbroch School is a new independent specialist school that forms part of a 22 bedded Specialist Mental Health Service (SMHS) that is opening in the Autumn Term of 2022 for pupils aged 12-18.  This well-resourced school will have a high ratio of student to staff with small class sizes and a curriculum that is bespoke to needs of the children and young people.

You will:

• Help to create a safe, nurturing and caring learning environment in which children and young people can build resilience and develop their ability to self-regulate

• Support the team with the development of personalised learning activities in school, off site and through remote learning as timetabled to allow children and young people to develop their full potential

• Work with the school team to support small groups or pupils on a one- to one basis helping students in classroom based as well as other activities

• Deliver educational interventions, and to contribute to the development and monitoring of learning and behaviour support plans

 

About You

• Have good interpersonal skills and will be able interact with and communicate confidently with staff and students and other stakeholders

• Understanding of mental health diagnosis and be able to use empathetic approach to engage learners.

• Knowledge of the curriculum and some knowledge of local alternative provisions that will extend the school curriculum offer

• Good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.

• Have a positive, can do, attitude.

• Ability to manage your time and workload effectively.

• Sound understanding of Safeguarding practice and procedures.

• Have at least GCSE standard, or equivalent, of Maths and English.

• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential).
