Ahoy me hearties from Cambian Wisbech School

19.05.2017
Cambian Wisbech School is part of our SEMH school offering and is an independent, DfE-registered, co-educational day school, providing specialist education for up to 40 students, aged 9 – 17 years.

Our Key Stage 2 young people have been doing a mini topic on pirates.  So, we considered what it would be like to be marooned on a deserted island and how we would survive. We went to a nature reserve and pretended it was a deserted island that we had just landed on.

In their words, “first we walked around the island and found water that we could use to drink. We also looked for things to eat. We looked around the island for somewhere to make a shelter. The best place to make a shelter was at the top of a hill, which gave us a ‘bird’s eye view’ of the island and would help us to see animals who might hurt us.”

“Next we explored the island to find wood to make our den. We carried and dragged the wood back to the hill to make our shelter. We put our coats on top of the shelter for extra protection. Then we collected stones and made a fireplace. After that, we put wood in the fire.”

“I enjoyed it as I loved the bit where we made a den!” said Jake*.

“Making the fire was my favourite bit,” said Bradley*.

We are thrilled that you all had such a great time and are looking forward to hearing about your upcoming adventures!
