Students from Southlands School participated in “pass the pedal” a charity relay bike ride for PEDALL the New Forest Cycling Inclusion group. The Young People were riding to raise awareness and promote Inclusive cycling for those that may struggle to access bike riding or that have a disability and need support to really enjoy the benefits of simply riding a bike and enjoying the sense of healthy freedom and satisfaction that this can bring.

They joined forces with other local schools and colleges to take part in this event that was led by Paralympic cycling World Champion and Gold Medallist Darren Kenny OBE.

The total distance covered was 20km and one of our Students was fortunate enough to be able to give a live radio interview on BBC Radio Solent. With a photographer from the Lymington times also being present the Young People rode their bikes and supported other students to complete the ride from Brockenhurst to Burley.

A huge well done to all that took part as they were a credit to themselves and the school demonstrating some outstanding team work and determination.
