Fostering Services

How Many Children Can I Foster?

The number of children you can foster depends on your personal circumstances and the number of spare rooms you have available.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to foster a child with us unless you can offer a spare bedroom to a foster child.  These children may have already experienced traumatic situations and are having to adapt in a new house and environment so it is important that they have their own personal space that they can make their own.

The majority of our families are approved for one or two children but we do have some who are approved for three or more. Your approval is reviewed every year so it is possible that your allowance can change.

Fostering Office Locations

 Testimonial Image

The By the Bridge with Cambian fostering offices are countryside locations, carefully chosen and decorated with bright colours, pictures and plants so that everyone experiences a sense of care, value and ‘a homely’ feel when they come to work or visit.

We aim to create an environment where people feel valued and can grow, develop and achieve their goals.

Becoming a professional foster parent

We regard fostering as a profession. Therefore we'll treat you as a professional - we'll provide great pay, support and training. In return we expect our foster parents to provide a high standard of care for our children.

I want a professional career in fostering and am happy to undertake ongoing training

The challenges of fostering

Fostering is life changing and rewarding work. It can also be challenging at times but our foster parents tell stories of the great satisfaction they gain with our expert support.

I understand that some children in fostering may have challenging behaviour due to the experiences they may have had
