Meet the Team at Dunbroch School
Head Teacher
Karen Carrington
Nine years ago, I started at Cambian, progressing from Pastoral Manager to Headteacher, after many years spent holding various different roles within educational settings.
I have a desire to see every student able to follow their dreams, and believe that a bespoke education, which engages the interests, aptitudes and abilities of the individual, combined with outstanding pastoral care, is the best way to help our young people achieve this.
Art Instructor/Teaching Assistant and Cleaner
Martha Lavery
My name is Martha and I am an Art Instructor/Teaching Assistant at Dunbroch School. I came to Dunbroch after finishing a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Fine Art at De Montfort University; specialising in printmaking for two years. My skills are diverse when it comes to mediums and surfaces and I enjoy sculpture, painting and drawing too. I found a deep passion for printmaking and focused my final project on the subject. I am always searching for new discoveries to expand my learning with the Fine Arts. I thrive within all areas to contemporary art and the processes to creating. I exhibit my work in art galleries regularly and currently exhibiting in the ‘Artefacts Live’ Exhibition in the Leicester Museum. Martha also supports the school with cleaning.
Vocational Instructor
Gemma Morement
I joined Dunbroch School as a vocational instructor in June 2024.
Working with children with special needs has always been something I wanted to be a part of as I enjoy helping them.
I have experience of working in a prison as a Tutor and I love a challenge.
I’m looking forward to being part of the team here at Dunbroch School and working with everyone to help the children be successful in their futures.
Pastoral Support
Kate Bowers
I joined Dunbroch School as the Pastoral Support in September 2023.
Before I started working at Dunbroch school I was a support teacher supporting children with additional needs. I’ve always had a passion for helping others and this is what drawn me to the Pastoral role. I really enjoy communicating with others about their different experiences and how we can all learn together from them. I am very much looking forward to progressing in my role and gaining more skills with upcoming courses.
Administrator
Lauren Strachan
I started at Dunbroch School in November 2023.
I have never done admin-based work before but have always wanted to work within the care industry. I have really enjoyed learning and growing in my admin role and I am looking forward to progressing further. In my spare time I loving spending all my time with my 2 children and going to concerts.
English Teacher
Rebecca Griffiths
I’m Beckie and I became an English teacher way back in 1998, after spending four years studying at Derby and Nottingham universities. I have a passion for learning, about anything and everything, so teaching allows me to be a continual student whilst I’m encouraging young people in their appreciation and understanding of language and literature.
I have four children, who I spent twelve years home-educating, during which time, I learnt to build dens, light fires, and had all sorts of crazy, outdoors fun.
I’m currently enjoying the challenge of trying to get a decent note out of my new Alto Saxophone, and jump around on the badminton court whenever I get chance.
Science Instructor
Sana Sarwar
I am Sana Sarwar. I have recently joined Cambian Dunbroch School as a Science Teacher. I have done MSc Botany and BSc Zoology, Botany and Chemistry. I have a teaching experience in a military school. I am a hard-working and driven individual who isn't afraid to face a challenge. I'm passionate about my work and I know how to get the job done. I would describe myself as an open and honest person who doesn't believe in misleading other people and tries to be fair in everything I do. I am confident about my job. I am confident in my abilities to produce, and while I prepare for the worst, I do the work necessary to tilt the odds that the best will happen.
I am someone who is mature, candid, and who has integrity. Every day I work to improve myself and my skills, which is part of maturing and becoming better at what I do.
Teaching Assistant
Krystal Redman
I joined Dunbroch School in May 2023 as a Teaching Assistant.
I really enjoy getting to know new people and comparing our interests, hearing about their current path and opportunities. I also enjoy helping people in any way I can, as to me it feels very rewarding. In my own time I like to go on little adventures and finding new things that I enjoy doing.
