Complex Trauma Services

There are 3 main stages within the STEP framework:

Stabilisation

This is where the children will be getting used to their new environment, and will begin to adapt to the family environment and responsibilities. This is a period of settling and while assessment will commence, no direct therapy takes place during this time.

Strengthening

At this stage the children will be more settled in their new environment, will be more emotionally contained and will begin to experience the home in a positive way and learn new skills. During this stage we will ascertain areas that require improvement and will work with the child to get them to the next stage of transition.

Transition

This is the stage where we determine the next care steps for the individual and where is best for them to move on to. At which time we work with the children in preparation for this next step.
