Specialist Education

Some students from Lufton College recently took part in the Natspec Student Parliament – a national event bringing together learners from specialist colleges across the country to share their experiences and perspectives. In preparation, students reflected on their journeys and experiences and discussed how their education has supported them to shape their futures. A key focus was the government’s proposed SEND reforms, giving young people a valuable opportunity to contribute to an important national conversation.

We are especially proud of two students who spoke with confidence and insight:

One student shared their personal experiences of specialist provision, highlighting the importance of tailored support for individuals with learning difficulties. Their contribution was a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of specialist education.

Another student spoke eloquently about their journey at Lufton College so far, explaining how their time here has transformed their life, particularly in helping them access the community and develop social behaviours that will support their future independence.

Organised by Natspec – the voice of further specialist education, the event aims to ensure that learners with SEND are heard at a national level.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Lufton College so positively and demonstrating the true value of specialist education
