Cambian Lufton College is delighted to celebrate a significant achievement for one of our students, who has recently secured their provisional driving licence—an important milestone in their journey towards greater independence and future employment.
With the support of college staff, the student successfully navigated the online application process, developing key digital and life skills along the way. For young adults with complex needs, accessing online systems can be a challenge, and this achievement highlights the importance of personalised support in building independence.
Gaining a provisional driving licence is not only an exciting step towards learning to drive - something the student has identified as a personal aspiration for the future, but also an important tool for employability. Having a driving licence can significantly increase access to job opportunities, particularly in rural areas such as Somerset, and supports young people in developing confidence, responsibility, and autonomy. This is also an important tool for identity proof when accessing the job market.
At Cambian Lufton College, we are committed to supporting students to develop the skills they need for adult life, including access to employment or future opportunities. This achievement demonstrates how targeted support and real-world experiences can empower young people to take positive steps towards their futures.
We are incredibly proud of the student’s success and look forward to supporting them as they work towards achieving their theory test and begin driving lessons.
