At Devon School we recently celebrated Roald Dahl Day. Many staff and students dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl stories for the day; we had an Oompa Loompa, Miss Trunchbull, Matilda, Golden Tickets, Willy Wonker, the BFG and Miss Honey.
Students were focussing on the use of descriptive language to help create an image of a character, some students created their own characters in a Roald Dahl style. Some of the creations made were called Roger Rush, Mr Lankin, Mrs Karen and Choo Choo Charles.
Students took part in; a treasure hunt for Gold Tickets, creating Quentin Blake inspired artwork, using Matilda’s mathematical games, and reading different characters for the BFG during a group reading session.
The day was hugely successful and all students engaged in the activities on offer throughout the day.
