On Thursday 7 March we took a small group of students to the NIA in Birmingham for the All England Badminton Championships. Players from around the world competed in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
The NIA is a great venue, comfy seats and good facilities. We chose to sit fairly centred allowing us a clear view of all the courts. The action was non-stop with the next game starting just as soon as the one before was finished.
We watched games from just after 11am till 4pm. The students were engrossed and behaved brilliantly. We could happily have sat watching for a few more hours but sadly we had to head off home to get back to school for a reasonable time.
Unfortunately this was the afternoon when numerous traffic incidents caused major delays on the roads but thanks to Mr Erskine’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the minor roads and scenic villages of Northamptonshire, we made it home in one piece, all be it, a little later than planned.
