Cambian Pengwern College plant their way to success

23.06.2017

In April, the Young Enterprise Team from Cambian Pengwern College in Rhuddlan won the regional finals at the Conwy Business Centre in Llandudno Junction and went forwards to the All Wales Finals in Cardiff which they attended last week.

The young people had to present their trade stand to the judges, answer questions about their business and perform their presentation on stage in front of the other schools and colleges that had won their respective regional competitions.

The judges were so impressed with the students work during the year and awarded them the Best Report Award.  One of team members who had engaged in Young Enterprise sessions particularly well, won the Sir John Moore's Special Achievement Award for all of the hard work he had put in.

The awards evening continued on a high for Cambian Pengwern College when a shower of confetti burst and it was announced that Pengwern Planters had won the main award - that of ‘Team of the Year’, which was amazing and quite overwhelming.

The finals were a fantastic experience with all of the students commenting on how much they had enjoyed the day.  We have also learnt that that their presentation won first prize in the national team presentation competition!  This means representatives from our team will now be attending the UK London Final at the British Film Institute next month!

Pengwern Planters would like to say a big thank you to Selwyn Griffith, our Young Enterprise manager for north Wales and Barry Griffiths, our Young Enterprise Business Adviser, for all of their support and advice throughout the year.  We would also like to thank all the businesses in Rhuddlan and Prestatyn that have worked with us this year and Kinmel Bay, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan councils for working with us.

A huge congratulations from all at Cambian Pengwern College and at Cambian Group to Young Enterprise Team ‘Pengwern Planters, we're all so very proud of your achievements!
